What is PRP?
Lots of platelets those are concentrated into a small volume of plasma. Platelets when processed release active growth factors which help in regeneration of tissue.
How it is done?
PRP therapy is a three-step process. Most PRP therapy requires four treatments 4—6 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments are required every 4—6 months.
Step 1:Your blood is drawn and put into a centrifuge (a machine that spins rapidly to separate cells and fluids)
Step 2: After centrifuge blood will be separated into in three layers:
- Platelet-poor plasma
- Patelet-rich plasma
- Red blood cells
Step 3: The platelet-rich plasma is drawn up into a syringe and then injected into areas of the scalp that need increased hair growth.
How it works?
Growth factors include transforming growth factor-β, VEGF, platelet-derived growth factor, insulin-like growth factor, and epithelial growth factor. These factors play important role hair regeneration and increase blood supply to hair follicles.
They also stimulate collagen formation and healing of tissue.This regenerative property of platelets is used in patterned hair loss and facial rejuvenation and scars.
